Choosing Your First Hunt

Before you can plan anything, four simple decisions come up. What animal would I like to hunt? What part of Montana sounds right? What will it cost? And who, if anyone, is coming with me?

It is fine not to know the answers yet. Most people who want to start cannot name the animal they want, and that is completely normal. You have never done this. How would you know?

This section walks through all four decisions the way a friend would. It gives you a feel for each animal and which ones suit a first-timer, describes the country in plain pictures instead of map numbers, lays out the honest money, and shows how to bring a partner or a kid along.

Here is the reassuring part. You do not have to figure any of this out alone, or before you call. A licensed Montana outfitter listens to what sounds exciting to you and points you the right way. You bring the curiosity. They bring the rest.

Where this fits: this is the third hub of five. You came from Get Ready, and this section leads into Your Guide.
